Which containers and codecs can I use in SD/HD/UHD and can I mix them?

Version 3 and above supports all codecs and containers which are supported by AVF. With v3.1 and above we check if the Pro Codecs are installed at startup of our application. Please see here for more information about the formats supported: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2050?locale=en_US

It is possible to mix all supported codecs using the same channel, mixing SD/HD and UHD in the same timeline also works as long as the clips are using the same frame rate. Please keep in mind that the scaling is done in software and therefore not compareable to hardware scaling. If you use different field orders, you can change the order for a clip by selecting "Invert fields" in the Inspector.

Our just:out engine also supports automated realtime aspect ratio conversion as well as automated field order detection and correction. This allows to mix movies with different aspect ratios, different field orders, different codecs, pixel sizes, different numbers of audio tracks and much more in the same playlist . In addition the user can define how the different aspect ratios should be converted automatically (using a preset in Just Control Configuration) and to overrule this setting for each clip individually using the Inspector in just:play/live. The field order is automatically changed based on the engines field order and the clips field order. This setting can also be overruled by the user for each clip, where color codes help the user to identify wrong settings.
